Passengers using trains in Scotland are set to experience significant disruptions due to a 48-hour walkout by members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) at Network Rail.

The strike, which follows two days of industrial action earlier in the week, is not related to ScotRail staff. However, it is still impacting the train operator’s ability to provide services.

As a result, ScotRail is only running 12 services in the central belt, Fife, and the Borders on Saturday between 7:30 AM and 6:30 PM.

Passengers are being advised to consider alternative modes of transportation and only to travel if necessary. Talks between the RMT, train company employers, and Rail Minister Huw Merriman on Thursday were unsuccessful in resolving the ongoing dispute over pay, jobs, and conditions.
